VA_gary_crowleys

Following on from the highly popular first volume of Gary Crowley’s Punk & New Wave, Demon Records are proud to introduce Vol.2. “Alongside my rhythm pal Jim Lahat, we’ve once again pillaged our respective music collections to bring you a highly personal and extremely eclectic selection of gems, mined from the rich seam that was the late ‘70s/early ‘80s.”

This mega 77 track collection features some of the biggest names from this period such as The Clash, Ramones, The Jam, The Cure and The Slits. Alongside the bigger names Gary & Jim also shine a light on the lesser known bands, those who might have left just the one great single in their wake such as The Limit, Gary Valentine, The Wardens, Basement 5 and The Limps. Many of these incredibly rare tracks appearing here for the very first time on CD.

Ken Hensley | Past & Present (Songs In Time): A Ken Hensley Anthology 1972-2021 (2023)

ken hensley past & present

A name synonymous with Uriah Heep, Ken Hensley was a founder member of the British prog legends and, during the 1970s, was the keyboard player, occasional guitarist and principle song writer. Right up to his passing in 2020, he was a prolific performer and writer.
He recorded some solo work during his tenure with the band, and once the post split bad feelings eased, had been known to join the band on stage on occasion, and his solo work continued, as well as recording with John Lawton, John Wetton, Wasp and Blackfoot.
This fine fine box, up to the usual high Cherry Red standards and covers a breadth of material well. But with the plethora out there, it’s both a good summary and a good starting point. Now Spinning Magazine
